We need your help to combat food shortages in the Sierra Tarahumara!
Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and newborns are most-affected when food levels drop.
You can help by donating to One Heart World-Wide today!
Dear Friends,
First and foremost, we would like to thank you for all of your hard work and support in 2011. Your help has made a tremendous difference in our programs. While we are reluctant to come to you again so early into the New Year, we have recently gotten word that the Tarahumara Indians, with whom we are currently working in the Copper Canyon, have been hard-hit by one of the most severe droughts they have seen in years.
The Tarahumaras are known for their ability to endure the unforgiving conditions of the Canyon, however, this year’s drought has caused food production to drop to dangerously low levels and many Tarahumara men, women, and children are now starving. Pregnant women, nursing mothers and infants are especially vulnerable to food-shortages. Mothers dangerously deplete their own reserves to feed their unborn infants or find themselves unable to produce enough milk to feed their infants.
One Heart World-Wide is aiming to raise $20,000 to support the Tarahumara community during this critical moment. Please take a moment to visit our donate page to help us reach this goal. Your donation would provide much needed food supplements and prenatal vitamins to pregnant women and nursing mothers suffering from nutritional deficiency because of the recent drought.
Together we can help our friends in the Copper Canyon get through this difficult period.
In gratitude,
Arlene Samen,
President & Founder
